Sony has unveiled new optics prepared exclusively for the A-mount series used by Alpha DSLT. This includes a primary Carl Zeiss lens and telephoto optics. To be specific, there are two different lenses, Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm ZA SSM and 70 – 400mm f/4 5.6 SSMII, which are good enough for complementing the Sony Alpha A99 and they are also compatible with APS-C.
Action and wildlife photographers should choose the 70 – 400mm f/4-5.6 G lens with its improved autofocus performance and enhanced optics. Fast-moving objects can be moved much more efficiently with the enhanced tracking AF. On the other hand, the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 ZA SSM lens will nicely close the gap between 24mm and 85mm prime lenses used by A-mount cameras.
