The Fujinon XF 14mm F2.8 R is designed for Fujifilm’s mirror-less cameras. As a premium wide-angle prime lens and it is one of those prime designed for APS-C cameras. The letter “R” indicates that the lens uses a dedicated ring for controlling the aperture. Users can pull the ring back to engage the manual focus and this should allow for the zone focusing technique.
Fujifilm has some big claims about the lens’ optical characteristics. The company says that digital correction is not needed and the lens is corrected to minimize distortion. There should be minimal vignetting and chromatic aberrations, thanks to the X mount with its short backfocus distance. Unfortunately at $900, the lens may appeal only to professional photographers.
